At Park Facial Plastics, we offer a wide variety of non-surgical injectable cosmetics to add volume, create angles and give a more youthful look. The main causes of aging are changes in bone density, loss or displacement of fat and the break down of collagen and elastin. Noninvasive cosmetic treatments are a cost effective way to help combat the appearance of aging and show instant results with minimal to no downtime.
Botulinum has become very popular for reducing wrinkles and rejuvenating the aging face. This injectable solution known as “denervating agents”, temporarily block nerve receptors on the muscle, which helps prevent lines and wrinkles from forming. Although the effects last for approximately 3 to 6 months, the injections can be done quickly, require no recovery time, and serve as a noninvasive alternative to surgery.
Botox has been used for several decades and has become a very quick and popular anti-aging treatment. Botox is most commonly used around the forehead and eyes to help reduce deep lines and wrinkles such as frown lines and crow’s feet, but it can also be injected in other areas to create more defined lines and shaping such as the jawline and calves. Furthermore, Botox can also help treat excessive sweating, alleviate TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder and chronic migraine headaches.
Overall, Botox and Dysport are very similar and can be used interchangeably. Dysport works in the same manner as Botox but tends to have a slighter quicker onset (2-5 days vs 4-7 days for Botox) and diffuses more (ie: spreads to a wider area). Depending on the size and placement of the treatment area, Dr. Park will help guide you to pick the best treatment with the most advantageous results.
With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging. Fillers are products such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyl apatite that rejuvenate facial skin by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions, enhancing lips and replacing soft-tissue volume. Unlike Botulinum Toxin injections that relax the muscle under a wrinkle, an injectable filler volumizes the line or crease making them seem to have nearly disappeared. Facial fillers are temporary to long-lasting solutions administered through a few tiny injections on specific areas of the face. Various types of facial fillers are available; each is designed with one or several purposes and Dr. Park can help you determine which facial injections and what injectable fillers treatments are right for you.
A non-animal, biodegradable gel composed of hyaluronic acid, Restylane is a soft tissue dermal filler that adds volume to the skin, smoothing facial folds and wrinkles in areas around the mouth and eyes. Results can be seen immediately following treatment and typically lasts for up to 6 to 8 months.
Just like Restylane, Perlane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid, adding volume and fullness to the skin. However, Perlane differs from Restylane as the average size of the particles and the depth of injection usually make Perlane a better choice for more severe facial wrinkles.
Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus
Made of a hyaluronic acid gel, Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus are used to fill fine and deep wrinkles respectively and is a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that contributes to volume and hydration. Juvederm is designed to temporarily correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The prime use is removing nasolabial folds (smile lines), a lip augmentation agent, and to fill in hollow places such as scars. However, all hyaluronic acid facial filler products are eventually absorbed by the body, usually within 6 to 9 months.
An injectable made of synthetic polylactic acid contained in microspheres, Sculptra not only fills wrinkles but also stimulates your skin’s fibroblasts to produce new collagen to rebuild lost volume. Sculptra is most often used to cheek hollows, smile lines, and depressions around the eyes, but can also be used on other areas such as the hands. Sculptra treatments consist of a series of injections into the deeper layer of the skin and the effects develop over time. Skin thickness can increase over several weeks and cal last up to 3 years.
